Cara moved to Margaret River from Karratha in 2014 and it just seemed a natural progression to get into the wine industry, it’s a "When in Rome" type of thing!
We chatted with Cara and asked her to share a few things with us.
What is your favourite varietal and why?
I could say all varietals but we are in Margaret River after all so it is definitely Chardonnay. I think we produce some of the best Chardonnays in the world. A big call I know but I challenge anyone to change my mind.
What is your favourite food & wine pairing?
Mmmmm, the first thing that springs to mind is our Blanc de Blanc and salty pop corn, yum! On a more serious note, some South West marron, velvety, creamy beurre blanc and a Margaret River Chardonnay, preferably our Estate Chardonnay.
Where is a hidden gem in the region to visit?
There are a few well known gems in the region... Hamelin Bay, Injidup Natural Spa, a drive through the Boranup Karri Forest and Jewel Cave. So much to do one visit is never enough.
What’s your top tip for visitors to the region?
I think that depends on how long you are staying in Margaret River, but if you only have a few days you need to see a couple of wineries with a long lunch at one of the many beautiful restaurants. I do recommend you don’t drive and there are some amazing tour guides and bus charters. A visit to one of the many caves that are hidden along Caves Road and the Busselton Jetty are a must do as well.
Your thoughts on what makes our region so special.
Where do I start? Magnificent wines, beautiful beaches, stunning forests, the climate is practically perfect. The people here are wonderful too, so friendly and more than happy to talk about this fantastic region.
