Passata Making @ Mr Barval Winery

Join Laura and Francesco our in house gardener and chef for a hands-on day all about making traditional Italian passata from scratch.
In this intimate workshop (limited to 15 participants), you’ll learn every step of the passata-making process — from preparing the tomatoes to bottling your finished sauce and of course.. sitting down to an Italian feast of Pizza, Pasta and side serves for a long lunch.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Garden Tour and harvest Tomatoes and Basil
- Wash, cut and core the tomatoes and process them using traditional techniques
- Fill bottles with your freshly made passata and learn techniques for preserving
Each participant will get a hands-on experience with every stage and will create their own batch of passata to take home. (Note: Bottles will need to be boiled for 1-2 hours. It is during this time that we will sit for lunch Please ensure adequate time is allowed for this.)
- You will take home 2 passata bottles
- Cost is $195.00 per person
- Apperitivo platter, Spritz, Lunch and glass of Riserva Nebbiolo included (other wines available to purchase on the day)
- You will be given a recipe to take home for future references
- Max 15 people per class
